A man who died following a shooting on I-75 south near Austin Boulevard Monday has been identified as a 64-year-old West Carrollton man.

Miami Twp. police are continuing to investigate the shooting. It is not clear what started the incident.

“There was evidence to suggest the gunshots came from outside his car, and we did have some witnesses that we spoke to that said there was another vehicle … that someone inside had been shooting at this person,” Miami Twp. police Sgt. Paul Nienhaus said.

Middletown police saw a vehicle that matched the description of the shooter’s vehicle and detained three people.

The trio was described as persons of interest and not suspects by police.

While initial reports indicated there was a shootout, Miami Twp. police Lt. Mike Siney said witnesses only reported gunfire from the suspect’s vehicle.
