Man stuck by syringe in motel chair

A Huber Heights man is “scared to death” after a syringe, stuck in a chair, pricked his finger in a Days Inn and Suites Motel.

Justin Coots, his fiancée and two young children booked a room Monday afternoon at the motel, 7470 Miller Lane. After returning from dinner, Coots said he was relaxing in a chair when he felt a prick to his left middle finger. After finding the syringe, he said he called police and was taken to a Huber Heights Emergency Center.

“HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis A, B, C - I’ve either got all of them or none of them,” Coots told News Center 7’s Layron Livingston.

Coots said the general manager offered a free night’s stay at the motel. The motel manager was not available for comment.

Livingston discovered this Days Inn and Suites is part of a franchise, and not operated by the parent company, Wyndham Hotel Group.

However, the Wyndham Hotel Group released a statement regarding the incident.

“The property … is an independently owned and operated hotel. We do not have all of the details at this moment, but we take the safety and well being of our guests very seriously. We are reaching out to the property to find out the specifics of this situation,” according to the statement.

Coots said he plans to be tested for sexual transmitted diseases Wednesday and has already contacted lawyers in the area.
