Maria Stein Prepares For Healing Field

The West Ohio Healing Field will begin this week to set up for a one-time event taking place from Sept. 9-12, 2006. The event is being held to help strengthen the community and bring awareness to our communities and acknowledge those individuals who have sacrificed, served and are currently serving our country in some way.

The event takes place on the grounds of the Spiritual Center of Maria Stein on Johns Road. A 10-acre field will be transformed into a furling sea of 3,000 American flags.

The flags will begin to be placed in the field by volunteers on Thursday, Sept. 7. Each of the flags represent a person that has or it serving our country.

The event is free and hosted by the Military Family Support Group with the help of the Spiritual Center and Country Fest. It is being funded through sponsors and flag sales.

The event starts at 2 p.m. Saturday with a parade.
