Meet Kroger’s new president for Dayton, Cincinnati

Kroger has named a new president of the Cincinnati/Dayton division.

Scott Hays, who is currently the president of the Michigan Division, has been promoted to run the Dayton and Cincinnati regions for the grocery chain, which is one of the largest retailers and employers in the area.

Hays started at Kroger as vice president of operations for the company’s Fry’s division before he was promoted to the Michigan Division in September.

“In just a short time with the company, Scott has already made a lasting impact,” Rodney McMullen, Kroger’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “Scott’s passion for people and wealth of grocery and retail experience makes him an ideal leader for Kroger as we work to redefine the customer experience. We look forward to Scott’s leadership of Restock Kroger in our Cincinnati/Dayton division.”

Before joining Kroger, Hays started his grocery career as a clerk for Albertson’s in 1983 in Provo, Utah. He was promoted to store director and then climbed his way through the ranks to hold two vice president positions in different divisions for that company.

There is not yet a confirmed start date for Hays in the area, said Kroger spokeswoman Erin Rolfes.

The company currently employs about 20,000 associates in the Cincinnati/Dayton Division across 109 stores. The company is seeking to hire 300 associates within the division at a hiring event Saturday.
