Officials in the region said some dogs have been fighting in the Miami Valley and other parts of the state. Federal investigators have been working the case that extends from Dayton to Cincinnati.
Investigators said Cornelius Burnett, Jerry Pounds, Larontay Bennett, Paul D. Pennington, Terry Kendrick and Jon E. Pollard were arrested in connection with the dogfighting raid. They face federal charges that include drugs, weapons, illegal gambling and sponsoring animal fight events.
Officials said the dogs that fight battle until death or until one of the dogs give up.
Investigators said 64 dogs in eight locations were seized by the U.S. Humane Society in connection with the dogfighting ring that officials have been working on for a year.
Investigators said at least two of the six people arrested have no bonds set. Authorities said all of the dogs may have to be euthanized.
