Miamisburg is looking to hire police officers.

The city has been operating below 2017 budgeted staffing levels, and also is looking to fill vacancies created by recent or upcoming retirements, according to city officials. The specific numbers of jobs were not available, but are expected to be in single figures.

Miamisburg City Manager Keith Johnson said the staff shortages have required overtime within the department, but he noted that all shifts are staffed.

“There is not a shift that we don’t’ have cops on the street,” he said recently. “We are not down officers on the street.”

The city has a job posting on its website for officers and is seeking a federal grant to help fund more positions.
