Hired in October 2002 after a stint in the military, Green is a range instructor who “has a wealth of knowledge of high-risk incidents,” according to his nomination letter.
Green “seems to have a calming effect with people he comes into contact with and is able to subdue a tense or volatile situation within moments,” the letter stated.

Miamisburg also awarded Officer Jason Priest and Auxiliary Officer Scott Roysdon police stars for live-saving actions.
Priest was credited with dragging a 67-year-old Heincke Road resident from his burning home on March 17, Sedlak said.

Priest found the victim burned and “partially ablaze” and “displayed great courage during this incident. He maintained his composure in the face of grave danger,” Sedlak said.
Roysdon was also credited with “quick calm and professional reaction to a quickly unfolding life-threatening situation.” That occurred Sept. 3, 2016 when the off-duty officer performed the Heimlich maneuver on a boy choking in a restaurant.
