Why it's needed: Staff currently reports to multiple locations, including an administration building, a maintenance building, the tipping floor, scale houses and office trailers. A centralized facility would improve efficiency and communications, according to county Environmental Services officials.

What's being built: Plans call for a new building with six offices as well as a conference room and break and training rooms. Also included are women's and men's locker rooms, a server room, mechanical rooms and storage.

An adjoining concrete parking lot for up to 70 light duty and employee vehicles and for 20 transfer tractor trailers with electric heater block connections is also part of the plan.
What it will cost: Commissioners are expected Tuesday to approve Monarch Construction Company's bid of almost $6.9 million. Monarch was the lowest of four bids, the highest of which came in at about $7.4 million.
Monarch’s low bid on the project came in $586,000 above the county engineer’s projected estimate.
