Update 8:28 a.m. EDT Oct. 21: The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 in Philadelphia announced it is offering a $5,000 reward as investigators search for suspects in the shooting of an 11-month-old boy.
According to The Associated Press, the money "is being offered for information leading to an arrest" in the incident, which left the baby critically injured.
Authorities have not announced any arrests in the shooting.
Original report: According to WPVI-TV, the 11-month-old's stepmother said she was driving in the city's Hunting Park neighborhood when gunfire erupted about 8 p.m. The baby, who was inside the vehicle, suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, head and buttocks, authorities said.
The stepmother said she became aware of the child's injuries after parking about a mile north of the shooting site, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Someone then took the woman and baby to a nearby hospital, authorities said.
The baby, who was later transferred to an area children's hospital, remains in critical condition, according to the Inquirer.
Police have not arrested any suspects, WPVI reported.
