A 5-year-old boy dressed as the school’s security guard for a “Dress as your favorite person day” at an Arkansas elementary school.

Easton Blocker decided to dress like Officer Jeffery Cross, who patrols the halls at Bobby G. Lester Elementary School, WTHV reported.

"From day one, he has always had a fascination with Officer Cross," Easton's mother, Lauryn Blocker, told WTHV. "He tells me every day, 'Officer Cross keeps us safe from the bad guys, Mommy.' It's reassuring."

The Jacksonville North Pulaski School District has armed security guards in each school as part of an initiative this school year.

"(Students) had questions about why I was armed and I was just telling them, 'I'm armed to protect them from someone bad who would come and hurt them,'" Cross told WTHV.

Cross posed for some pictures with Easton in his homemade yellow "junior" security shirt Wednesday.

"It makes me appreciate my job more," Cross told WTHV.

Easton’s mother was not surprised her son wanted to honor Cross.

"That shirt is probably going to stick with him forever,” Blocker said. “It means a lot to him.”
