Poncho Via, a 7-year-old steer from Goldwater, has a tip-to-tip horn span of 10 feet, 7.4 inches, according to AL.com. That is wide enough to earn a listing in Guinness World Records,
Guinness verified the record May 8. Poncho's span topped the old record by nearly an inch, according to Guinness.

Poncho's horn spread is also wider than the face of the Statue of Liberty, which measures 10 feet in width.
The Pope family, of Goodwater, has been raising Poncho. Jerel Pope said the longhorn has become a celebrity in Coosa County, AL.com reported.
"All my neighbors 'round here, any time they have company, they come over to see the longhorn. He’s just a big, gentle character," Pope told the website. "Everyone brings [food) with them -- he likes apples, carrots and marshmallows."
Jeral’s son, Dennis Pope, said the family considers Poncho "just a big pet."
"He's had so many people over the years stop by to see him, feeding him treats, that he's turned into a wonderful, big pet," Dennis Pope told AL.com.
