Kaepernick, 32, who led the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl berth in February 2013 but has not taken a snap in an NFL game since 2016, will release his book through Kaepernick Publishing, the newspaper reported. An audio version of the book will be released through Audible, the audiobook owned by Amazon, the Los Angeles Times reported.

In a news release, the book is described as “Part political awakening and part memoir.”
“Kaepernick’s memoir will reveal the life experiences that led him to risk his career as a star NFL Super Bowl quarterback in one silent act of protest.”
In the same release, Kaepernick said he wanted “to tell the story of my evolution, and the events that led me to protest systemic oppression, in hopes that it will inspire others to rise in action.”
“My protest was the culmination of years of thought and experiences, of learning and unlearning,” Kaepernick said.
The name of the book and the release date were not announced, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Kaepernick filed a grievance against the NFL in October 2017 under the collective bargaining agreement, alleging collusion, ESPN reported. That grievance was settled in February 2019.
In November 2019, Kaepernick worked out for seven NFL teams in Georgia, but he remains unsigned.
It is not the first time Kaepernick has talked about writing a memoir. In 2015, he announced he was writing "Different," for an imprint of HarperCollins, The New York Times reported.
That book, which was not released, was to be “an inspirational, faith-filled memoir.”
Kaepernick Publishing was established in March 2019, according to filings with the New York Department of State, The New York Times reported.
