Update 3:17 p.m. EST Dec. 10: The man who opened fire was identified as a 42-year-old man with a criminal record, The Associated Press reported. His name was not released. Police said the man used an illegally owned Czech-made 9mm gun. The man acted alone, police said.
Update 5:18 a.m. EST Dec. 10: The suspect accused of fatally shooting six people at Ostrava's University Hospital has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
In a Tuesday morning tweet, Czech Republic police said they located the vehicle of the suspect, identified only as a 42-year-old man. The man "shot himself in the head as they approached," The Associated Press reported.
