After nine seasons, Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett will not be part of the organization moving forward, multiple news outlets reported late Thursday.

According to KETK, Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones has decided to let Garrett's contract expire on Jan. 14.

Garrett, who took over coaching "America's Team" from Wade Phillips in November 2010, was the second-longest serving coach in team history, behind only the legendary Tom Landry, the station reported.

With an 8-8 finish in 2019 – the fourth such record in Garrett's nine seasons as head coach – the Cowboys missed the playoffs, yet his overall 85-67 record with the team makes him the second-winningest coach in team history, ESPN reported.

During his tenure, Garrett's Cowboys won their division three times but scored playoff wins only twice, KETK reported.
