The new show is being adapted by CBS All Access, and a cast has not been announced, the magazine reported. Some details were announced at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Thursday, Variety reported.
Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet will be the writers and executive producers, and Kurtzman will be the director, according to Variety.
Kurtzman and Lumet said the series will delve into the "next chapter" of the story.
"Some strings will connect to both the novel and the film, but if you haven't seen the film or haven't read the novel, it's fine," Kurtzman told Variety. "You'll get to have an experience that's entirely singular. If you have, you'll have the benefit of understanding the history of the world that both of those things set up."
