Bellbrook was settled in 1816 and named for one of its founders, Stephen Bell and for the area waterways including Little Sugarcreek, Sugarcreek and the Little Miami River.
It became a city in 1974 after a series of annexations of nearby Sugarcreek Township.
The population is 6,943 and residents have a median age of 43, according to the 2010 census.
Writer Erma Bombeck and comedian Johnathan Winters were from Bellbrook.
