Dump truck crashes into Seattle Subway shop, 5 injured

A dump truck crashed into multiple people and cars before driving into the Subway sandwich shop in Pioneer Square, Seattle Fire Department officials said. Five people were injured, according to the fire department.

The accident occurred at 1st Avenue and Yesler Way. Video from the scene shows the truck completely inside the Subway store, with the front window shattered. The building was evacuated due to structural damage and crews are working to extricate the dump truck.

Officials said there were two people inside the store when the truck crashed inside, but both were able to escape unharmed through a back door.

Four patients were transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. Fire department officials also tweeted that one patient with minor injuries is in Seattle Police Department custody.
