We’re in the middle of a meteor shower, but the best time to see it will be overnight.

The Eta Aquarids are active through May 28 but experts at the American Meteor Society say the peak is May 5 when the moon is 91% full.

The AMS says the shower will produce 10-30 meteors per hour just before dawn. The darker the sky, the more meteors you'll see, according to Space.com.

The meteors you see were originally produced by Halley's comets but broke away from the comet a long time ago, Space.com reported.

The meteor shower happens when the Earth passes through the debris trail from the comet, according to CBS News.

As for Halley's Comet, it is only seen once every 76 years. It was last seen in 1986 and will next be seen in 2061, CBS News reported.
