According to The Post and Courier of Charleston, the package was found in the waters off Fripp Island. Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Maj. Bob Bromage said the family dragged the package out of the water and took it to its vacation home in a golf cart. When a package was sliced open, family members saw it was filled with white powder and called authorities, Bromage said.

Deputies responding to the home said they recovered about $600,000 worth of cocaine, The Post and Courier reported. Bromage called that figure a "conservative estimate," the newspaper reported.

Bromage said officials are trying to confirm where the cocaine came from, according to The Post and Courier.
