According to WEAR-TV, authorities on Saturday arrested Autumn Beede, 39, of Escambia County, on a child neglect charge after investigators learned that a boy she had gained custody of in December was living in the home alone.
When deputies visited the home Feb. 14, they said it smelled like human waste, the Pensacola News Journal reported. He also did not have food, and power and water service had been shut off, authorities said.
Deputies said the boy claimed that a man had also been living there, but he was jailed Feb. 5, the newspaper reported. The boy had been alone since, deputies said.
Beede was released Sunday from the Escambia County Jail on $5,000 bond, according to the News Journal.
