According to The Associated Press, Hickenlooper, who was Denver's mayor before he served as Colorado governor from 2011-2019, previously has supported gun control legislation and is against the death penalty. He also supported same-sex civil unions two years before the landmark 2015 Supreme Court ruling that legalized gay marriage, the AP reported.
Unlike some of his 2020 competitors, Hickenlooper, a moderate, "has hedged on supporting Democratic rallying cries like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal," the AP reported.
