The senior Bush was a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II
Sully, who was named after the hero pilot who landed a passenger plane in the Hudson River, Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, works at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, as a rehabilitation dog, the "Today" show reported.
The dog was given the rank of hospital corpsman second class in February, The Hill reported.
Sully was a constant companion to President H.W. Bush from the time he was assigned to the former commander in chief until the president died last year. One of the lasting memories for some of the president’s funeral was Sully lying in front of the flag-draped casket with the caption “Mission Complete.”
For his service to Bush, Sully was awarded the Paw of Courage by the American Kennel Club, People magazine reported.
