The Mackinac Bridge Authority hung the U.S. flag, measuring 30 feet by 60 feet, Wednesday from the tower of the bridge that connects the Upper and Lower peninsulas of Michigan, MLive reported.
The flag is displayed on six holidays each year -- Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Patriots Day and Veterans Day, the website reported.
The flag also is unfurled through a new 36-foot reel system, which stores the Stars and Stripes like a roll-up window curtain on the bridge's towers, MLive reported.
The flag is lowered through a remote control device, the website reported
