The woman's family called police after she went to the store and did not return, KNBC reported.
"(Witnesses) thought it was just a conversation," Inglewood Police Lt. Neal Cochran told KNBC. "They look away for a second, then, they hear a pop which was a gunshot. They look over. They see our victim on the ground, and they see the suspect taking her purse."
The suspect is believed to be a Hispanic woman in her 30s, KNBC reported. She left in a dark colored sedan with tinted windows, investigators said. The driver was a Hispanic man in his 30s.
The family set up a GoFundMe account to help with medical costs.
