Mitchell struck her head on the floor when she collapsed, KTRK reported.
"When I woke up, I was in the back of the EMS and my daughter saying, 'Mom, what happened,'" Mitchell told the television station.
Jaliyah stayed calm and ran to a neighbor's house, knocking loudly on the door. The neighbor called 911, and first responders transported Mitchell to a hospital, where she received a dozen stitches, KTRK reported.
"I ran down to the neighbor's house and I ran down the steps," Jaliyah told the television station.
"By the time I arrived, paramedics were there, my mom was in the back," Mitchell's daughter, Amber Hallm told KTRK. "Everybody was talking about how they saved my mom."
Mitchell said she was grateful her granddaughter was there when she fell, KTRK reported.
"You saved Grandma's life," Mitchell said.
