Cunningham, 45, was diagnosed with brain cancer in November, the television station reported. That came days after Evans learned she had beaten breast cancer, KPRC reported.

Four times before, Cunningham had asked his girlfriend of seven years to marry him, but Evans said the timing was not right because her boyfriend traveled for weeks at a time, KPRC reported.
"He has asked four times and the answer was always ‘no’ because Corey was always on the road for work and he would be away from home for months at a time,” Evans told the television station. “But being as, the situation has changed and his medical status has changed, I decided to say ‘yes.'”
A wedding so close to Valentine’s Day seemed appropriate.
This time, Cunningham got his doctor to pop the question for him, KTRK reported.
"He's such a gentle soul. I just felt a connection to him. I wanted him to be able to realize this dream," Phyllis Chappell, of the Department of Supportive and Palliative Medicine at Methodist Hospital, told KHOU.
The couple said their vows in the hospital, and bride and groom could not be happier.
"Seeing his face made me even more emotional," Evans told KPRC. "I could feel throughout my entire body the love he has for me -- I have never, never felt it more than today."
