Three cruise lines that frequently stop in the Bahamas will be donating money to help relief efforts after Hurricane Dorian caused destruction on the islands.

Royal Caribbean will be donating $1 million, WUSA reported. Its partner at the Grand Lucayan Resort in Freeport, ITM, will be adding $100,000.

The money will be donated through the Bahamian government, local charities and the Pan American Development Foundation and will match guest and employee donations to the foundation up to $500,000.

Royal Caribbean is also taking generators, water and clean sheets to the Bahamas.

Royal Caribbean operates its own island -- Perfect Day at CocoCay between Freeport and Nassau, Cruise Critic reported. It also has an island in Haiti.

Royal Caribbean is not alone in the financial support of recovery efforts.

Disney Cruise Lines, in conjunction with the Walt Disney Company, has also pledged $1 million to help the Bahamas recover. Disney owns and operates a private island called Castaway Cay, CNN reported.

It also has pledged to send food and construction materials to the people who need it, according to WFOR.

Castaway Cay employs more than 60 Bahamians from Abaco and Grand Bahama and other islands in the region, the company said in a press release.

Disney Cruise Line came under fire when the company said they allowed some employees to stay on Castaway Cay despite Hurricane Dorian's Category 5 status when it made landfall , USA Today reported.

The company said the employees who decided to stay on their island were in a storm shelter that held food, water and had power during the worst of the storm and returned to their living quarters a few hours later, CNBC reported.

The island did not see the full brunt of the hurricane and according to the company, "As forecasted, sustained winds on the island did not extend beyond tropical force strength."

The company also recently announced the creation of a second private island in the region called Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera, Fox News reported.

Carnival Cruise Line also announced its intention to help out, but it is determining how best it can support the Grand Bahama shipyard and its employees. The company's ships will be docking at ports as soon as the locations can handle the ships, WUSA reported.

Finally, Princess Cruises officials said on Twitter they are working with government and emergency relief officials to see what support is needed.

That company has its own island, Princess Cays, about 70 miles east of Nassau, according to Cruise Critic.
