The recall only includes the Igloo Marine Elite line of coolers, which are white with stainless steel latches and the Igloo logo embossed on the latch and on the outside of the coolers, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The coolers were made for use on boats and in marine environments and were sold in 54-, 72-, 94-, 110- and 150-quart sizes. “Igloo Marine Elite Cooler” and the quart size are printed on a label on each cooler.
The 110-quart model has two wheels and a metal handle for pulling the product.
Igloo said it received one report of a child who was briefly trapped in the cooler before being rescued by an adult.
"Consumers should immediately put the coolers out of the reach of children," the CPSC said in a statement. The agency also urged consumers to contact Igloo for instructions on removing and disposing of the old latch and how to receive a free replacement latch.
The coolers were sold for between $10 and $180 at West Marine stores, Sportsman’s Warehouses and other home and recreational stores and online at Amazon.com between 2015 and 2019.
Consumers can contact Igloo for more information at 866-509-3503 Monday through Friday or visit the company's website at www.igloocoolers.com and click on "Contact Us."
