"I turned around and he's, like, right in the threshold, in the doorway, and he puts a gun to my head and tells me to give him the money," Davis told KCCI. "I'm like, 'I don't have the money.' So he grabs my purse and empties it out."
The man took $1,700 from Davis and drove away with the car, the television station reported.
Sgt. Paul Parizk, with Des Moines police, said people should be viligant when conducting business with unknown parties.
“What’s a better deal than, ‘Hey we’re going to sell you a car, and we’re going to bring it to you and deliver it’? If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” Parizek told KCCI. “Don’t ever have them come to your residence. Meet them in a public place. Don’t ever take the money with you.”
