Kentucky toddler shot in hand, foot after gun accidentally fires, police say

A Kentucky 3-year-old suffered injuries to the hand and foot when a gun accidentally went off Sunday morning, authorities said.

According to the Louisville Courier Journal, police said the incident happened around 11:30 a.m. on South Ninth Street in Louisville. The child was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of the injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, WDRB reported.

While investigating the case, authorities determined "that the child was injured as a result of an accidental discharge," a Louisville police spokesman told WDRB.
