Family, friends and supporters filled the gym to remember their lives with a standing ovation.
WHBQ spoke with a relative of those children who said nights like tonight are appreciated.
Six-year-old Ashlynn Luckett and 16-year-old Lequan Boyd died after a drive-by shooting in January on Kirby Mills Cove in Hickory Hill.
On Friday night, they were honored at Collierville High School.
The children’s mothers were there, along with other close family, including Shawn Taylor, a cousin.
“I couldn’t stop crying because it hurts. It really does hurt. It is like a pain you can’t explain. The community, the school and all of the different churches and family have been showing love. At a time like this this is when family comes together,” said Taylor.
Taylor said he’ll remember their innocence.
“Just a beautiful little girl always smiling always laughing. Lequan was just a fun kid, dancing in the hallway. Always laughing and joking. Just good kids,” Taylor said.
It’s been weeks since the shooting happened, and no arrests have been made.
Taylor told WHBQ: "We are letting the police do their job, and we are sticking together."
