"'I forgot’ is the most common excuse that TSA hears when someone is caught with a gun at the airport checkpoint, but that’s never a good excuse for bringing a loaded gun to the airport checkpoint,” a TSA news release said.
The .380 caliber handgun was loaded with five bullets, including one in the chamber, officials said.
Allegheny County police were contacted by the TSA because of the incident. They confiscated the gun and detained the man for questioning before releasing him, officials said.
So far in 2020, five guns have been confiscated at the Pittsburgh International Airport checkpoint, according to the TSA.
