A man who was shot by authorities after investigators said he donned a mask and opened fire outside a federal courthouse in downtown Dallas has died, according to officials in Texas.

Federal prosecutors confirmed the gunman, identified as 22-year-old Brian Isaack Clyde, was pronounced dead after he was taken to Baylor Hospital. No other injuries were reported, police said.

Authorities said Clyde fired several shots starting around 8:40 a.m. local time outside the Earle Cabell Federal Building and Courthouse in downtown Dallas.

Witness Don Miles told KTVT he saw a burst of people running early Monday after shots rang out.

“It was just shots, maybe 10 to 15 shots, all rapid shooting,” Miles told the news station. “I just ran across the street into traffic.”

Dallas Morning News photographer Tom Fox snapped a photo of Clyde while waiting to enter the courthouse to cover a trial, according to the Morning News.

Authorities said officers with the Federal Protective Service returned fire shortly after the shooting began, striking Clyde. FBI Special Agent in Charge Matthew DeSarno said at a news conference that authorities had no evidence to suggest other shooters were involved in the incident.

Following the shooting, a bomb squad conducted controlled explosions of devices found in a vehicle associated with Clyde. Police said the vehicle was rendered safe by Monday afternoon.

The circumstances leading to Monday’s shooting were not immediately clear. Authorities continue to investigate.
