A man robbed a Philadelphia drug store after handing a clerk an apologetic demand note indicating he had a sick child, police said.

The man walked into a Rite Aid at 11:57 a.m. Jan. 3 and after meandering around the store, walked to the checkout and handed an employee a note that read, in part:

“Give me all the money. I’m sorry, I have a sick child. You have 15 seconds.”

The cashier then put an undisclosed amount of money in a bag and the man left, police said. It was unclear if the man had a weapon.

Police are searching for the suspect and ask that he turn himself in.

"We certainly understand that people have needs. That's just not the way to go about fulfilling those needs," Philadelphia Police Capt. Sekou Kinebrew told KYW. "There may be some specialized services for this individual and his family that he could be in need of, too. Unfortunately, the only way at this point he may be able to get them, is if he comes in and sees us."
