Ronnie Foster has been receiving treatment for colon cancer, WTVD reported. Foster decided to stop at a convenience store to purchase lottery tickets on his way to his final chemotherapy appointment. He bought a $1 scratch-off ticket and won $5, which he traded in for a $5 Win it All scratch-off ticket, but at the last minute, he decided to buy an additional Win it All ticket, he told WTVD.

The first ticket was a loser, but the second one was worth $200,000, WTVD reported.

Foster claimed his prize Friday at North Carolina lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After taxes, Foster took home $141,501.

Foster told WTVD that he'll use part of his lottery winnings to help cover medical bills related to his cancer treatment.
