Missing hiker, park ranger found dead in Yosemite National Park

That was the last day he was spotted, near the Bridgeport Ranger Station, according to Yosemite park officials. An experienced hiker, Tenczar planned to backpack from Robinson Creek to Crown Lake, Matterhorn Canyon, Smedberg Lake, Seavey Pass and Peeler Lake.

The area where he was hiking was not near the wildfires raging through the area, officials said.

Tenczar’s body was found just one day after the body of Ranger John Blevins Cogdell III was recovered, park officials said. Cogdell was last seen around midday Aug. 15 at the Upper Pines Campground in Yosemite Valley.

The circumstances of both deaths remain under investigation, park officials said.
