The incident took place Monday at P.S. 321, News 12 Brooklyn reported. Parents told News 12 that their children came home in tears after a teacher told them that Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy are not real, during a lesson in "convincing."
A parent who spoke to News 12 said the teacher's actions were damaging, especially considering the timing, just three weeks before Christmas.
Liz Phillips, the principal at P.S. 321, sent a note home to parents, saying she was "extremely upset" about what had occurred. She "guaranteed" that the substitute teacher would not be assigned to the first grade class again, News 12 reported.
