Two weeks ago, UPMC doctors told Jaworski he only had four to six months to live unless he gets a liver transplant. Jaworski's wife, Kathleen Jaworski, said the donor would just have to donate a piece of their liver and it would regenerate over time. Doctors said it would take too long to get a cadaver liver.
“My hope is that we are able to find a liver donor soon for my husband, who is very desperately in need of one, so if anybody out there is looking to give the gift of life, please,” Kathleen Jaworski said.
Kathleen Jaworski turned to a Westmoreland County Facebook group. Strangers reached out to her and she was able to make a sign. Others have let her display the sign on their yard.
It’s now been on two major roads and the family hopes it moves more people to act.
Here are the requirements to be a liver donor for Jaworski:
- 50 years or younger
- In good health
- O+ blood
“If you can help in any way with a donation or donor, not only for my husband but anyone else who is waiting, thank you so much and God bless you,” Kathleen Jaworski said.
