This wasn't the first time Tooele City police had checked on Souron-Mathers. They said they had done a welfare check on her a few weeks earlier, KSTU reported.
There were no signs of trauma on Souron-Mathers' body, but police discovered a mystery -- the body of the woman's husband, stuffed in the apartment's chest freezer.
The man was identified as Paul Edward Mathers and police said he had been in the deep freezer from 1 1/2 to 11 years, CNN reported.
But what was the reason for a decadelong time frame? Police said they confirmed Mathers had lived in the apartment since December 2007 and when they asked neighbors when they last saw the man in the home, they gave varying answers, KSTU reported.
Mathers' cause of death has not been determined, KSTU reported. But police said that it is suspicious, but not labeled a homicide, pending autopsy results, according to KSL.
Souron-Mathers' death is not considered suspicious, KSL reported.
