Michael Hogg, 28, is charged with aggravated assault of a child, simple assault, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child, The Morning Call of Allentown reported.

The girl arrived at a hospital Monday with two skull fractures, bruises and bleeding on the brain, the Colonial Regional Police Department told LeighValleyLive.com. The baby was under the care of her father, Hogg, when she was injured, police said.

Hogg at first told police he tripped while he was holding the baby and landed on her, police said. However, police said he later admitted he "intentionally" hit his daughter on the head with a filled baby bottle.

The baby remained hospitalized Tuesday, Detective Gary Hammer told The Morning Call.

Hogg was sent to Northampton County Prison. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 1.
