And Butter was the lucky bird to get the presidential pardon.
The two fowl were raised at a Clinton, North Carolina, farm which was chosen nine months ago, according to WTVD.
The turkeys were taken from the farm Friday to begin their trip to Washington, D.C. in advance of Tuesday's pardoning ceremony in the White House Rose Garden, WTVD reported.
The tradition of presenting the National Thanksgiving Turkey was started in 1947 by President Harry S. Truman, according to the White House. President George H.W. Bush was the first to issue an official presidential pardon.
The turkeys are getting the all-star treatment in a 5-star suite before their moment in the spotlight, WTVD reported.
After the ceremony, both of the birds will be moved to Gobblers Rest at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, CNN reported.
Last year's turkeys, Peas and Carrots, are still living at the university, CNN reported. Previous turkeys selected for the White House ceremony and relocated to Virginia Tech have died.
