The owners of a puppy had a joyful reunion with their pet when the dog was found after an accident on a central Wisconsin interstate Saturday. The dog had been ejected from an SUV during the crash, WBAY reported.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, a Dodge Avenger, speeding and making unsafe lane changes on Interstate 90/94 near Portage, hit a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, WTMW reported. The Avenger went out of control and hit a Toyota FJ Cruiser SUV, forcing it off the road, the television station reported.

According to troopers, the SUV rolled three times before landing against a tree, WBAY reported. The puppy was thrown from the vehicle, the television station reported.

The passengers in the SUV -- a 20-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, were taken to an area hospital, WTMW reported.

A state trooper and deputies with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office searched the area and found the puppy, the television station reported. The dog was not injured, and was reunited with its owners at the hospital.

The State Patrol posted photos of the reunion on its Facebook page.
