Jason Racz, 37, told police the razor blades were accidentally spilled or put into his candy bowl but could not explain how the dangerous objects made their way into multiple neighborhood trick-or-treaters' baskets, WTNH reported.
In addition, authorities determined a 3-year-old living at the Horseshoe Drive home had access to a box of razor blades, the station reported.
Racz, who is being held on a $250,000 bond pending arraignment, has been charged with risk of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment and interfering with a police officer.

Original report: One person is in custody after Connecticut authorities fielded several reports Thursday of razor blades found in trick-or-treaters' candy baskets, multiple outlets reported.
According to KVIT, police said the razor blades were not found in candy but loose in the baskets and bags.
Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo told WTIC investigators determined the razor blades originated from a single residence and one person believed to be responsible for distributing them is in custody.
According to WFSB, no injuries have been reported and police are expected to release more details as their investigation continues.
