Furniture retail giant Ikea is recalling 820,000 dressers because of concerns of tipping and entrapping small children, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a news release Wednesday.

The recall concerns Ikea’s three-drawer Kullen dresser. The CPSC said the chest, which is 28 2/8 inches tall and weighs approximately 45 pounds, could pose a danger to small children if the furniture was not properly anchored to a wall. The agency urged people to immediately stop using the dressers if they were not anchored.

The dressers were sold between April 2005 and December 2019.

In its news release, the CPSC said Ikea received six reports of tip-over incidents involving the Kullen three-drawer chests that were not anchored. One report included a minor cut to a child, and another involved minor cuts and bruises.

The CPSC said the article numbers for the chest are 600-930-58 (birch), 501-637-54 (black-brown), and 803-221-34 (black-brown). A five-digit supplier number, four-digit date stamp, Ikea logo, country of origin and “KULLEN” are printed on the underside of the top panel or inside the side panel, the agency said.

Ikea recalled 17.3 million dressers in 2016, USA Today reported.

The CPSC announcement comes two months after Ikea agreed to pay $46 million to the parents of a California child who died in 2017 after one of the company’s dressers tipped onto him, the newspaper reported.

Consumers can call Ikea's toll-free recall hotline at 888-966-4532 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST or go online to www.IKEA-USA.com/secureit for more information on how to receive a refund or a free wall-anchoring repair kit, the CPSC said in its release.
