According to an NBC story, Farook and Malik were carrying two .223-caliber assault rifles and two semi-automatic 9 mm handguns, and fired between 60 and 70 rounds at the center. Police say they had 1,400 rounds of ammunition for the rifles and 200 rounds for the handguns inside the rented vehicle in which they were shot and killed by police.
A spokesperson for the ATF said all four guns recovered were purchased four years ago. Neither Farook nor Malik were the legal purchaser of the rifles. Investigators are working to track down that person who purchased the rifles, whom authorities say is known to investigators.
