There were no injuries after a single-engine plane crashed Monday afternoon in Vero Beach, Florida.

No one was injured Monday afternoon when a small plane crashed near a South Florida airport, authorities said.

According to the Vero Beach Police Department, a single-engine Piper Cherokee aircraft crashed in the grass near the Vero Beach Regional Airport, WPTV reported.

The Vero Beach Police Department posted photos of the damaged plane, which had a ripped left wing that separated from the aircraft, to its Facebook page and advised motorists to use alternate routes.

A fire official said the pilot exited the plane, TCPalm reported.

According to FlightAware, the plane is owned by FlightSafety International, a flight training and simulation company.
