A fight involving more than 150 inmates broke out at an Arizona prison Friday evening.

Six inmates and an Arizona Department of Corrections staff member were hospitalized Friday after a large fight at the Florence West prison, officials said.

Correction officials said the fight between approximately 150 inmates broke out around 5:30 p.m. at the privately owned prison, KTVK reported.

Pepper spray and tear gas were used to stop the fight but no gunshots were fired, correction officials told KNXV. Florence West officers were able to stop the fight after receiving help from additional corrections officials, the television station reported.

The inmates will remain on lockdown throughout the weekend while the incident is investigated, KTVK reported.
