Kayshawn Dyett, 23, was arraigned Thursday on felony charges connected to the most recent assault. He is accused of strangling and raping the latest victim.
According to KTVA, Dyett was charged in May 2018 in the rapes of two women. Although he was released two months later on a reduced cash bail of $5,000 and placed under pretrial supervision, he was indicted on charges representing six additional women.
The initial charges involved two women who reported being sexually assaulted within a 24-hour period in April 2018. The six subsequent victims – who claim Dyett approached them at work, school or through friends – reported "forcible sexual assaults" during a six-year span from 2012 to early 2018, the Anchorage Daily News reported.
According to the latest bail memo filed by the state of Alaska, Dyett violated the conditions of his release twice in recent months, including an unauthorized trip to Wendy's where prosecutors believe he met the ninth victim, KTVA reported.
In turn, Judge Patrick McKay granted the state's request to set a cash bail of more than $500,000 at his Thursday arraignment on the new charges, the station reported.
