Charges are pending against the boys after the incident that happened Tuesday around 8 p.m., Atlanta police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown told AJC.com.

The minors were selling bottled water on the I-285 southbound ramp near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive when a man and woman in a vehicle declined their offer to buy water, she said. This allegedly prompted the gunfire.

The couple drove away unharmed and called police. No one was injured during the incident.

WSB-TV reported it was a teenager who fired the gun. No other details have been released.

An investigation is ongoing.
