You have seen the headlines: A customer sneaks out without saying a word while leaving a tip in the thousands.

Well, one woman said it happened in Memphis, Tennessee. Her manager told her at the end the shift about the generous tip.

Shikira Edwards has worked part time at Denny's on the weekend for the past three years to pay off her student loans.

And she said the customer who left her that tip sneaked out without saying a word.

“It’s just such a blessing to have good people like that, that are still here and that God did answer my prayers, 'cause he knows what I go through,” Edwards said.

An emotional Edwards said what happened to her Saturday was a miracle.

The Denny’s waitress got a tip for $4,451.61 from a woman she doesn’t know.

“For someone to look at me and bless me in that way,” she said. “In that way, shape or form, there is no blessing too high or too low for God, and I appreciate her so much.”

Edwards learned about the tip at the end of the night Saturday, when her manager called her into the office.

WHBQ asked her: did she say why she was leaving you that amount?

“She appreciated my smile,” Edwards said. “That’s one thing that she did tell me, and from there I don’t know.”

Edwards plans to use some of the money to pay off the nearly $33,000 she owes in student loans for dental school.

She’s going to use the rest of the tip for mentorship programs helping teens dealing with depression.

If you could say one thing to that woman who left you that tip what would you say?

“Thank you so much,” Edwards said. “I love you from the purest part of my heart. I just want to say that I love you. Just to see what God has given me. Just to see that light. I thank you for seeing it.”

It’s a sign good customer service and a good attitude can go a long way.

Edwards hopes the person who left that tip will see this story and give her a call, so she can thank her in person.
